RPI + TSOP32138

Freshly subscribed, so first of all, hi to everyone.

I recently add TSOP32138 (this package http://snootlab.com/composants/131-kit- ... on-ir.html) to my RPI.
I tried to learn IR code from my AC with LIRC, but i failed...
Learning process do not work properly and i feel my skill are not enough to manage it....

So i found AnalysIR and i'm ready to buy a license but i would like to know if AnalysIR could help me to control my 2 AC.

Hi

I suspect the TSOP32138 is part of your problem. It is not designed for long burst signals according to the data sheet. AC signals are usually very long.

Either of the 38kHz receivers should be fine. TSSP4038 is good for decoding with AnalysIR and TSOP34438 is good for deployed projects.

Other than that, AnalysIR is the best tool avaliable for analysing & decoding IR signals. However, some technical skill on you system (Arduino or RPi etc) and knowledge of IR signals is required. Not every signal is decoded to HEX/Bunary automatically, but we usually add it in when requested. AnalysIR can autmatically generate code for IRLib and IRremote on Arduino class devices and also generates LIRC RAW format for use with Linux/RPi systems.

Generally it is not for absolute beginners and does not require expert level skills. Somewhere in between - just beyond beginner level.

Any way to get a demo version of the soft ? before buying licence i'd rather be sure my model is compatible.
RAW file for LIRC generated are ready to use with or i'll need to integrate it in conf file ?

Sorry, we have a demo version but it is not available for download yet, but plan to have one available next year.

You will need to be familiar with the operation of LIRC on your RPi platform, before undertaking any project with IR.


My guess is that you will have problems recording AC signals with the IR receiver you have.


Why not try out IRremote or IRLib on an arduino. You can get Arduino clones for less than $5 including worldwide shipping!....less complicated for beginners.

my goal is to get a wifi to IR transmitter and i feel i'll have problem with Wifi on Arduino ?

Could you recommend me a site where i could buy everything (arduino, wifi shield, IR receivers/emetters, temperature receivers) ?

I would use eBay & Aliexpress for your shopping list. Delivery can be slow but value is very good. Just do your search and sort by lowest price including shipping.

I normally suggest that new users should start out with simple projects and work your way up to more complex stuff - one step at a time. Often, the biggest mistake is start a more complex project without understanding the basics first.

Project 1: First learn about IR signals & protocols. Then learn how to send and receive IR signals on your platform. Try as many examples as possible that are avaialble online as starter projects.
Project 2: Learn how to use wifi on your platform (cheaper alternatives are bluetooth or NRF24l01+ or even using IR to communicate between devices)
Project 3: Combine both projects 1 & 2.

Arduino: Either a Leonardo or UNO (any type). An Arduino Yun comes with WiFi but not really for beginners & is very expensive.

Ir receiver: TSOP34438 (or most TSOPs with 38kHz modulation frequency)

IR emitter: TSAL6100 or any TSAL6x00

Wifi module: there is currently a serial wifi module - esp8266 - available for less than $5 but not for beginners http://hackaday.com/2014/08/26/new-chip ... ule-its-5/. The Yun is expensive as mentioned above. Another alternative would be to consider the Spark core @$39 or their new version which is only $19 (shipping in March). If you prototyped on a cheap Arduino first and then moved to Spark (arduino compatible, but different) that might be the best overall approach. http://www.spark.io

Arduino : is fine.

Ir Receiver/Ir emitter : IR Components are available on our website. Worldwide shipping is included if you have/buy a registered copy of AnalysIR.

Wifi : is OK, but works at 3.3v only...so you will need to build a level converter. Also, it is not easy to get this working as it requires a lot of work. You will get some support via the Arduino forum.

Also, if you do your searches via ebay.com vs .fr you will get better pricing in $ instead of €. I always use the .com on ebay instead of the .ie.

I was just thinking that you might be better off using the USB IR Toy from 'dangerous proptotypes'. It has a receiver & emitter already on board and connects via USB. It works with AnalysIR & also the RPi and Wimdows. It costs just about $22. This way you could use your RPi enabled with wifi and the IR Toy connected. Again there will be some learning involved and it might be worthwhile to read thru the IR Toy forum first via http://www.dangerousprototypes.com
